The Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce continues its tradition of highlighting those making an impact in the community, as the nomination period has officially opened for their 2023 Community Achievement Awards.

“This year’s gala will once again honour the best of the best of local businesses, not-for–profit organizations and individuals who have positively influenced this community and shown great leadership,” said Tammy Schneider, chamber executive director. “The event reaches across the community and says thank you to volunteers and businesses who give so much for the betterment of Kincardine and the surrounding area.”

Members of the public can name their favourite nominees in one of 15 categories with each award sponsored by a local organization. 

Nominations are being accepted until end of day on Aug. 21. To access the nomination form, visit the Kincardine Chamber Facebook page or website and follow the link on the event flyer or scan the QR code.

“We hope the community takes advantage of this opportunity to shine the spotlight on our amazing businesses and residents,” said Schneider. “We encourage you to submit nominations in multiple categories. All nominations are welcome.”

Winners will be announced at the black and white themed awards gala being held at Ainsdale Golf Course on Oct. 14. Tickets to the event will be available mid-August.

Award categories:

BDO Customer Service Excellence Award – Presented to a business that has shown extraordinary commitment to customer service and care.

Bruce Power Citizen of the Year Award – Presented to an area resident who has demonstrated their strong citizenship with outstanding contributions to community service and has substantially enhanced the well-being of its citizens.

Bruce Telecom Young Entrepreneur Award – Presented to an individual, under the age of 35, who owns a business, has shown excellent leadership qualities, innovation in business skills, proactive employee and customer relations, and community leadership.

Community Living Kincardine & District Inclusion Award – Presented to the employer or organization that demonstrates an inclusive hiring practice by employing people with disabilities and celebrating diversity in their workforce.

Enbridge Quality of Life Award – Presented to a business, not-for-profit or community organization for its outstanding contribution to the quality of life for those in our community.

Hammond Power Solutions Golden Apple Award – Recognizes high standards of professionalism, leadership and innovation in education by a local educator. This person will have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to a student’s learning.

Jennifer Cook and Associates, The Cooperators Woman of Distinction Award – Honours a local woman, who through her initiative, ability and efforts, has made an exemplary achievement in her field and is an outstanding role model because of her goals and the way she has achieved those goals.

Kincardine BIA Downtown Ambassador Award – In honour of former downtown development manager Rick Clarke, this award is presented to an individual, organization or business that has made an exceptional contribution to Lakeside Downtown Kincardine, relating to community involvement, access and safety, promotion of assets, preserving and enhancing downtown character, all while inspiring economic vitality.

Law Offices of Andrea Clarke Youth Programming Excellence Award – Presented to a business, group or person in our community that has made an exceptional contribution to child and youth development in an extracurricular environment.

Miller Insurance Agricultural Business Award – Presented to an agricultural business which has demonstrated growth, sales, and leadership, and has an active involvement in the community.

Municipality of Kincardine Tourism Award – Presented to a business, group or organization that has exemplified hospitality, experience, and sustainability in the Municipality of Kincardine.

NPX Good Neighbour Award – Presented to an individual whose actions help to build connections within our community and whose dedication to the betterment of our community is notable and ongoing.

OPG Environmental Award – Presented to an individual, business or organization that is guided by a sense of responsibility and respect for the environment, which is manifested through initiatives designed to preserve, conserve or improve the local environment.

Shoreline Classics Business of the Year Award – Presented to a business in operation for two or more years that exhibits excellence in business growth, customer service and community leadership.

Superheat Business Person of the Year – Presented to an individual in an executive position who exemplifies excellent leadership qualities, innovative business skills, proactive employee and customer relations, and community leadership.
